VMMA Social Weekend at Lakes Entrances
Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th May 2011
The weather report on Friday was for cold and wet conditions for Saturday with Sunday being a little better, this was a social weekend not a motorcycle ride weekend so after a few telephone calls the message had got around cars would be a better option for this social weekend down to Lakes Entrance.
Saturday morning 8.00 am and yes it was cold and raining, load up the car and head for the departure point at the Olinda Hotel at Lilydale, Chris and Sharyn arriving last but dead on departure time of 8.30 am.

Sharyn, Kerry, Jean and Tracy at Lilydale. Chris, Bob, Ian, Dean and Chris at Lilydale.
We had a couple of withdrawals from the weekend late on Friday but this did not cause any problems for we had good numbers attending the social at Lakes Entrance.
The following departed from the Olinda Hotel in Lilydale Ian, Kerry, Bob, Jean, Dean, Tracy, Chris, Chris and Sharyn and our first stop was at Noojee where Jean went off skipping along the river and tried to fly fish with bark, just one of those magical moments!!!!
It was planned to meet up with Dennis and Anita down around Tyres but the timing did not work out so we continued our journey in convey down to Lakes Entrances without any problems, good number of speed camera's were in operation on the Saturday $$$$$.

Yes we are going to walk over that bridge!!!!
Pam and Peter leading the way to the bridge that leads to the Ocean beach.
On our arrival at Lakes Entrance Central Hotel Motel we found that Barry and Rhonda had arrived about an hour before us, they had traveled over Mt Hotham with snow and bad conditions for over 30 kilometers, we soon caught up with Peter and Pam who also traveled over Mt Hotham on the Friday who also reported very bad conditions and snow, Dennis and Anita soon arrived and we were all in attendance and ready for a social weekend together.
Barry and Rhonda's trip over Mt Hotham to Lakes Entrance on Saturday, good stuff!!!!!
The accommodation at Lakes Entrance Central Hotel Motel was excellent value at $99 per double that include a $40 dinner voucher for each double and the evening meals were top rate, highly recommend this accommodation.
After unloading and settling into the rooms it was decided we would all go for a walk up Main Street and take the walk over the bridge to the Ocean Beach this was no easy feat for the wind was blowing a gale, but it was well worth the effort to see the Ocean Beach and Sharyn tumble over the sand embankment to the waters edge.
The rugged up image best describes what the weather was like whilst walking over the bridge to the Ocean beach.
Whilst returning back to the motel some decided to have a game of mini golf the styles of play varied from no style to a little style this added to the fun of the 18 holes.
By this time it was yes pre-dinner drink time in the lounge bar and then off to the dinning room for dinner, using our meal vouchers that were part of the accommodation package we all enjoyed good quantity and quality meals, after dinner some left the table for a few games of championship pool and then returned to the dinning room to rejoin the group.
Pre dinner drinks in the lounge room.
It was now time to retire to a room to continue our social evening, everyone gather their drinks and nibbles to continue the evening in room 4 (thank you Ian & Kerry) our social evening consisted of 60's 70's music being played whilst enjoying each others company (great evening).

The dinner was of good quality and quantity.
We all gathered at 9.00 am and walked up the street to another motel that provided breakfast recommended by Pam, well dome Pam even though at first it took a long time to order and the thought was this is going to take for ever, how wrong we can be all the meals came out in no time and were darn good meals.
Everyone joined together in room 4 after dinner on Saturday.
L to R: Barry, Bob, Ian, Pam, Rhonda, Jean, Anita, Tracy, Dean, Peter and Kerry.
Breakfast finished it was time to depart with Barry, Rhonda, Peter and Pam heading up over Mt Hotham for home, they have reported that the snow and weather conditions were
far better than when they traveled over.
Everyone joined together for breakfast before departing for home.
It was unfortunate that Noel Harris made the effort to travel down to Lakes Entrance on the Sunday to catch up with us, but his timing of arrival and our departure found Noel only catching with Dennis and Anita at Stratford.
