New Initiates’ Cocktail Function
Friday 29th October 2010
The VMMA was invited to attend the New Initiates’ Cocktail Function for those brethren who have been initiated after June 2008 on Friday 29th October 2010 at Dallas Brooks Centre.
Our involvement in the evening was to setup a static VMMA display that included photographs, newsletters, information pamphlets, promotional material on the "Breathless" 8 Day Ride along with a motorcycle in the View Room at the Dallas Brooks Centre.

Unfortunately this was a ticketed event for New Initiates so Chris was the sole VMMA representative on the evening, but it was interesting to find a good number of VMMA members in attendance (at least 10) either as mentors with their New Initiates or has New Initiates.
The following was the invitation to those initiated after June 2008.
Freemasons Victoria’s Grand Master MWBro. Vaughan Werner & Deputy Grand Master RWBro. Bob Jones invite you & your partner/guest to enjoy an entertaining evening to celebrate your initiation and meet other Freemasons. Host is MWBro. Vaughan Werner and Master of Ceremonies will be Comedian David Brooks. Enjoy Freemasonry as you’ve never known it before with a first ever special performance by Brooksy & Cal – ‘The Music Men’.

The VMMA display was in between our good friends the Task Force on our right and the Ionic Coaching Service on our left, all three displays complemented each other and gave a very good overview of each of our organisations important involvement in Freemasons Victoria.
Early in the evening Chris made a presentation on behalf of the VMMA membership to the Ionic Coaching Services, this was the eighth consecutive donation since our inception and was for the amount of $1000.

The function room was opened at 7.30 pm, it did not take very long at all to fill up with brethren and partners from all over Victoria for the New Initiates’ Cocktail Function.
This event was not a sit down around tables, it was a stand and mingle evening and it worked.
The whole evening was based on meeting, greeting and developing friendships with one game activity that had 10 prizes attached to it that promoted talking to others for you had a name on the back of your name tag that had a corresponding name associated with it, task was to find the person in the room that had that corresponding name tag and learn something about that person and register for one of the 10 prizes.

Grand Master MWBro. Vaughan Werner the host of the evening addressing everyone.
It is interesting to note that the high volume of voices talking in the room confirmed that the meet and greet format was working and the solo guitarist just had to keep upping his volume to be heard.
Deputy Grand Master RWBro. Bob Jones commenced the official introductions and set the scene for the evening and was followed by Freemasons Victoria’s Grand Master MWBro. Vaughan Werner who emphasized the worth of Freemasonry to individuals and the general community.
Both Deputy Grand Master RWBro. Bob Jones and the Grand Master MWBro. Vaughan Werner also spoke of the Task Force, VMMA and Ionic Coaching Services has examples of what can be achieved within such an organisation of Freemasonry.
