Monday 19th July 2010

Return to Reports 2010 Index

The VMMA was invited by the W.M. Bro. Allen Angus of Cranbourne Lodge No. 290 to make an official visit on Monday 19th July 2010 and make a presentation of our activities in the south.

Unfortunately Allen wasn’t there on the night due to being in hospital and Chris our guest speaker was also unable to attend with a cold, so he was tucked up in a warm bed.

So time to organise replacement speakers and it was already 6pm, what to do?

Emphasis of this visit will be the “Breathless” 8 Day Awareness and Fundraiser Ride coming up in Oct. Nov. 2010.

The aim of this particular visit was to give an overview of the VMMA in the south of our recent activities within the community, An Awareness Presentation of Cystic Fibrosis along with a update of the "Breathless" 8 Day Ride for Cystic Fibrosis Victoria that the VMMA is undertaking which commences in late October 2010 to raise the Awareness of Cystic Fibrosis within the Victorian Community along with much needed funds for this organisation.

Yes, all organised even though those selected had no knowledge until they turned up at Cranbourne Masonic Centre.

The turnout of VMMA members on this cold and wintery evening was outstanding with Bob, Dean, David Hall, Erwin, Taxi, Dennis, Keith Fulstow, The Duke, Brian and David Cash.

Prior to entering the lodge the brethren of Cranbourne Lodge and other visiting brethren made us very welcome, we received a number of invitations to visit other lodges within the district as well as a invitation to attend the Order of the Eastern Star to do a presentation.

The work for the evening was a first degree and my I say it was one of the better ones I have seen and the lodge had quite a few brothers filling in on the night.

On retiring into the south the VMMA members dispersed themselves on a number of tables to enjoy the company of the brethren they came to visit.

The 3 "D"s speaking in the south David, Dean and David.

As the evening progressed David Hall ,Dean and David Cash were invited to the floor to give an update of recent VMMA activities within the general community along with a Cystic Fibrosis "Awareness" presentation that then led into the "Breathless" 8 Day Ride which is a major event between the VMMA Inc. and Cystic Fibrosis Victoria that will commence in late October 2010 with the aim of Raising the Awareness of Cystic Fibrosis within the community whilst raising much need funds for this organisation.

Cranbourne Lodge No. 290 made the following donations to Dean, $166.70 the proceeds of the raffle to the "Breathless 8 Day Ride fundraiser along with a $50 donation from a unnamed brother.

At the conclusion of this presentation by David, Dean and David the Treasure asked Dean to accept a donation of $166.70 from the Cranbourne Lodge raffle and a $50 donation from an unnamed brother, Dean accepted the generous donations and ensured the brethren that this donation will assist us in our endeavors to raise and donate $60,000 after the "Breathless" 8 Day Ride to Cystic Fibrosis Victoria.

Do we have a return of the three talking heads again or is it the three “Ds”

The evening was getting away at this point so time for the evening raffle which 5 VMMA members took home prices.

Even in the cold of winter the motorcycles are ridden to lodge visitations.

For a select 5 who road it was then time to get all the good gear on and mount our bikes for the cold ride back to our homes

The rest of us enjoyed our warm cars with the temperature telling me it was 4 degrees when we hit the fog.
