The VMMA was invited to attend at Koo-wee-rup Lodge on Thursday 25th September to support both Bro. Lionel Lawrence (VMMA member) from Lodge Of Honor who was being raised to the 3rd degree and Koo-wee-rup Lodge who have supported the VMMA over the past seven years.

Phil and Chris departed Mooroolbark at 5.45 p.m. for a 7.00 p.m. tyle at Koo-wee-rup, it was a very warm evening and our route was via Wandin, Cockatoo, Pakenham and then directly to Koo-wee-rup.

A number of the motorcycles at Koo-wee-rup Masonic Centre.

David picked up Bob in the car and left sometime after Phil and Chris, but going via a more direct route arrived at the Masonic Centre just prior to Phil and Chris.

VMMA visiting members on the night were Phil, Chris, David, Bob, David, Dennis, David, Mal and Lionel.

It was a pleasing to see so many brethren getting ready to enter the lodge, it was first thought that the lodge had not tyled at 7.00 p.m. due to large number of brethren outside the lodge, in fact the lodge had tyled and all these brethren were visitors.

It was tremendous to catch up with Graham Elso who is a regular member of the VMMA Installation team, Graham you are looking good.

Lodge Of Honor was also attending on an official visit for Bro. Lionel Lawrence is a member and was to be raised to the third degree in a twin raising with a brother from Koo-wee-rup Lodge.

Visiting VMMA members entered the lodge after the Past Masters in the first degree with the two W.M.'s on the road being presented to the W.M. and then the P.M.'s of the group. There were many other VMMA members in attendance who are members and officers of Koo-wee-rup Lodge and hence they were dressed in their dinner suits.

Even though the lodge tyled at 7.00 p.m. it took quite sometime to receive all the visitors for a good number arrived for the 7.30 p.m. tyle, after all visitors had been received into the lodge it was opened in the second degree and the evenings work commenced with two brothers rising for advancement in Freemasonry.

Over 80 brethren were in attendance for the twin raising.  L to R: Dave, Lionel Lawrence who was raised, Mal, Brian and Dave.

The twin raising was interesting for it is not an every day occurrence, Koo-wee-rup Lodge officers carried out the twin raising extremely well, moving the brothers around the lodge with ease.

After closing the lodge we adjourned to the south for a light supper, it was very unusual to see VMMA members not being recipecants of any exchange of Masonic property in the south.

The evening conclude quite late due to the large number of visitors and the twin raising.
