The W.M of Keysborough Lodge W.M. Bro. Stuart McMillan (VMMA member) at his installation 12 months ago pledge that the VMMA would be one of the organisations to benefit from Keysborough Lodge fundraising activities during his 12 months in the chair.

Stuart invited the VMMA to attend his last night and to receive a donation from Keysborough Lodge for the VMMA Charity account the following members attended the evening Phil, David C, Richo, ‘Billy’, Dean, David W and Matt.

Back Row R to L: Matt & Dean.

Middle Row L to R: Dave, Mal, W.M. Bro. Stuart, Phil and David.

 Front the lone soldier Richo!!!

The work for the evening was a full opening and closing, we entered the lodge as members of the VMMA with David Cash and David Wells being introduced to Wor. Bro. Stuart McMillan as visiting Past Master and Wor. Master respectively, David Wells was ‘isolated’ from the rest of the VMMA members by sitting in the East. Being the only visiting Master on the evening he looked a lonely lost soul up there on his own to the amusement of the other members.

The South was a most enjoyable part of the evening with plenty to eat and drink with a raffle which had an abundance of excellent prizes. The VMMA scored well with five of the seven who attended winning a prize.

The theme for the evening was Blue and White Geelong, but it appears no everyone was so enthusiastic about footy.

We would assume Mal & Richo are not Geelong supporters!!!!

The highlights of the prizes won were by Dean and Phil.  There were plenty of ‘bottle bags’ on the table and as they were being won and checked, were found to contain bottles of spirits such as Bourbon.

Dean won a prize and went straight for one of these bags, while I didn’t actually see it Phil informed me that Dean chose the one and only bag that contained a bottle of Bubble Bath.

Phil won the last prize of the evening which was a DVD of an old fashioned movie "The Wild Ride", Phil has threatened a compulsory viewing for VMMA members (may be at the next General Meeting!!!) as he doesn’t think he should be punished any further by having to watch it on his own. To add to the beauty of the moment – he won it with a ticket given to him by David Wells after he had already won a prize (cordless drill). How lucky is Phil!!!. Yes lucky Phil.

David and dean addressing the brethren in the south.

At the invitation of the Wor. Master Stuart McMillan, David Wells gave a short presentation to all in attendance about the VMMA. First it was explained that to be a member of the VMMA you do not need to own a motorcycle, nor do you need to be male, or do you need to be a Freemason.

The common theme for membership is a sense of charitability and a willingness to help others who are in need of assistance.

The presentation also included charitable efforts and activities already undertaken and a vision of the future direction, it was pointed out that money isn’t all that is offered and items such as the CanTeen ride and the support for the Western Region Disability Network were mentioned.

David invited Dean to address the brethren and spoke about the young girl from Berwick who lost a leg as a result of a bus accident and finally ‘Billy’ was invited to talk about the Erwin his daughter who received a "Rifton Pace Walker" from the VMMA in March 2007.

W.Bro. Stuart presenting a $1000 cheque to VMMA Vice President Dean Lugton.

Wor. Bro. Stuart then went to present the donation to David Wells, who in turn invited Dean the Vice President of the VMMA to accept the cheque donation of $1000, you could sense some nerves, but also an increase in confidence – well done Dean.

The journey home was wet and stormy. Phil and David got a good head start on Dean due to Matt hiding Caramello’s on Dean’s bike and Dean’s reluctance to ride until they were found.  Dean finally pulled up next to us at the corner of Dorset and Canterbury roads. Once the lights changed, Dean was gone. We were dry, but we were last to get home.

Some happy raffle winners Dean, Dave and Phil.

But Dean lost that smile when he was face with a wet ride home with his bubble bath mixture.

A great night was had by all, and the donation from Keysborough Lodge was greatly appreciated, and will be put to good use.
