Report of April Fools Day Ride
Sunday 1st April 2007
Meeting point was at Yarra Glen just past the pedestrian crossing at the Bank Cafe on the left, this turned out for some to be a convenient place to have a cooked breakfast prior to departing for the April Fools Ride.
Dean, Terri, Chris, Sharyn, Danny, Sandra, Richo, Mark and Gary enjoyed a cuppa and or breakfast at Yarra Glen whilst just taking it easy and generally socialising, this was planned to be a pressure free day, other than Danny's hydraulics!!!!
Which way was that Richo?
Finally after coffee's and breakfast it was time to depart for our April Fools Ride, we rode to Healesville via the top road and then traveled via Chum Creek to Toolangi and finally stopping for a rest at Kinglake West corner shop. The riding conditions were spot on with the clouds lifting and being replaced by blue sky and sun rays of warmth, the roads were dry and very safe to ride on through the hills and twisties.
We departed Kinglake West corner shop around 11.30 a.m. for the ride down to Flowerdale and then onto Strath Creek Hotel for a counter lunch, these roads are some of the best riding roads in Victoria.
Heads down time to order lunch!!
On our arrival at Strath Creek we found Bron had wheeled her bike out and rode from Bendigo to join with us for lunch, Pedro and Baron also rode into Strath Creek a little latter to join with us for lunch. Pedro and Baron had ridden to Orbost on the Saturday to attend a Lodge meeting and departed early on the Sunday morning so they could join with us for lunch. Also Chris had invited his mum and dad to have lunch with us, it was his dad's birthday and with the continued motorcycle blood in the families veins it took no pervasion for then to join with us for lunch.
Finally at 2.15 p.m. lunch was consumed and it was time to depart, we split up from Strath creek and went our separate ways for some were heading to Bendigo, Euroa and various suburbs of Melbourne.
Danny's "Rebel" motorcycle liked the hotel that much it did not want to leave and stubbornly applied the hydraulics to the front brakes in an attempt to stay longer, alas we put a spanner in its works and let some pressure out of the system and Danny was ready to rock n roll.
Highly recommend Strath Creek Hotel for a meal.
Sharyn and Chris took off for a very scenic ride home via Yean, Molesworth, Buxton, Marysville, Reefton and finally to Gail's for a coffee whilst the sunset in the west.
A absolutely great day with great like minded people.
