Static Display at Mount Waverley Masonic Centre Open Night
Friday 18th August 2006
The V.M.M.A. was invited to attend the Open Night at the Mount Waverley Masonic Centre on Friday 18th August 2006, our part on the Open Night was to set up a Static Display of our achievements and talk to the visitors at the Open Night in regard to the V.M.M.A. and Freemasonry in general.
Eric Palant was the V.M.M.A. representative to the Masonic Centre, he made it happen with a well structured Static Display incorporating V.M.M.A. merchandise of which Dean and Terri displayed on the tables in front of the Static Display.
Static V.M.M.A. Display and Members in the South.
The V.M.M.A. members supported this Open Night with 13 members attending and 11 motorcycles on display, Sharyn's being put in the foyer for it is a Harley and it was raining, the following members attended Matt, Jane, Chris, Sharyn, Bob, Jean, Dean, Terri, Eric, Paul, Russell, Dennis & Brian.
The Monash Gully District and Lodges at the Mount Waverley Masonic Centre had certainly prepared for this evening with over 200 people attending, majority of them being interested young men with their partners. The Grand Lodge representative on the evening was John Glover who spoke in the Lodge Room and answered many questions from the visitors.
Whilst the Open Night Presentation was taking place in the lodge room the V.M.M.A. members adjourned to a Cafe across the road for a coffee and discussed up coming events along with planning for them.
Matt with the ideas!!! Look at Chris's spot, paper, pen and lots of notes.
Returning to the Masonic Centre we found John Glover about to invite everyone into the South for a light supper, V.M.M.A. members spoke to many interested people about our activities and where we fit into Freemasonry Victoria. It was interesting to note that the V.M.M.A. was asked for contact details and membership application forms from both the visitors to the Open Night and brethren from various lodges.
The District Co-ordinator spoke briefly in concluding the evening and announced that the fundraising effort on the evening raised around $700, would go directly to the Districts fundraiser for the local S.E.S. Special Response Unit of which $42,000 needed to be raised and this amount this evening will go with the already raised amount of $11,000.
Must mention that the V.M.M.A. President Chris won the 1st Fundraiser Item on the evening.
