Report of V.M.M.A. Inc.
Visit to North Melbourne Lodge No. 41
Monday 4th September 2006
This visit was organised to thank the brethren of North Melbourne Lodge for their support of the V.M.M.A. from its inception.
Civil Service Lodge also joined in the visit for they have a good number of V.M.M.A. members in their lodge and North Melbourne Lodge is their mother lodge.
The following members attended Matt, Eric, Colin, Gary, Lindsay, Tony along with North Melbourne Lodge members Russell and Greg.
Matt spoke of the V.M.M.A. fundraising activities and explained that money donated to the V.M.M.A. for charity is donated in full to charities, Matt also spoke of the relationship between North Melbourne Lodge, Civil Service Lodge and the V.M.M.A.
In the early days if it were not for North Melbourne Lodge support and access to their Masonic Centre for our meetings along with Civil Service Lodge members support the V.M.M.A. may not have evolved.
Eric spoke of his personal experiences with CanTeen via the Annual Motorcycle Ride Day that is co-ordinated by the V.M.M.A., he spoke of his first meeting with a CanTeen member in the morning and how the relationship develops during the day and finally back at the Royal Children’s Hospital no one wants to depart, this is an experience and a good feeling that is hard to explain if you have no yourself experienced it.
Colin spoke of the development of the CanTeen Annual Motorcycle Ride Day from a few individual motorcyclist’s who for many years provided the ride each year for CanTeen until rules and regulations affected their ability to provide the Annual Motorcycle Ride Day, that is the point when the V.M.M.A. took up the challenge to provide the Ride Day for CanTeen members. The V.M.M.A. has been able to provide the Ride Day through the support of Freemasonry Victoria in particular individual Lodges and Masonic Centre’s who have provided the venue and food for morning and afternoon teas at ZERO BUDGET along with the various organisations within the community who have provide their venues for the lunch break and afternoon entertainment once again at ZERO BUDGET.
The evening concluded with the Master of North Melbourne Lodge W. Bro. Bill Morlly presenting the V.M.M.A. with a donation for the Charity account.
