The V.M.M.A. participated in the Inaugural Victorian Police Blue Ribbon Foundation "Ride To Remember"

The "Ride To Remember" was organised by The Victorian Blue Ribbon Foundation to give motorcycle enthusiasts the opportunity to show their support for the B.R. Foundation and raise money to assist in the funding a dedicated surgical theatre in the Trauma Centre at the Alfred Hospital, when completed in early 2005 the theatre will give medical staff and critically injured patients immediate access to surgical facilities within the Trauma Centre.

The departure point was the Monash University car park, Wellington Road Clayton, departure was at 10.00 a.m., this had been coordinated with VicRoads and under escort by the Victorian Police Traffic Unit.

The ride was extremely well organised and a reasonable road speed was achieved by the Police Escort managing traffic lights, roundabouts and intersections, which enable the 350 plus motorcyclist to ride two breast in a convoy.

The two breast convey when all together was 5 klm's long and when spread out 8 klm's, this gives you an idea of the impression the general public got when the ride passed them.

The ride distance was 97 klm's and took 2 hours to arrive at Maroondah Reservoir Park at Healesville the destination of the ride.

It had been organised that it would be a low key event at Maroondah Reservoir, time to socialise, have something to eat and drink.

A number of presentations were made to those organisation's and individuals that had given the Blue Ribbon Foundation support in staging this particular event. The M.R.A. members played a big role in the day with providing marshals and support to the Blue Ribbon Foundation.

Cathy Freeman attended the event by riding and assisted with the lucky door and raffle prizes.

In summary the event raised $5000 that will go towards assisting with the Trauma Centre at the Alfred Hospital, 350 plus motorcycles participated in the event (not including pillions).

A great event that motorcyclists of Victoria once again showed their support to the general community.
