Phillip Island Lodge No. 512

Wednesday 20th April 2005

Return to Reports 2005

This particular visit was multipurpose for it gave the V.M.M.A. an opportunity to support the Phillip Island Lodge W.M. Bro. Bruce Procter (V.M.M.A member), enlighten those present of the "STONE" movie fundraising day on Sunday 22nd May 2005 departing San Remo at 12.00 p.m. for a ride to Cowes for BBQ lunch and viewing of the movie "STONE", all proceeds will be donated to Warley Hospital Accident & Emergency Centre (Phillip Island Hospital) and lastly the Commander of HMAS CERBERUS Michael Murray was attending as guest speaker for the Vacant Chair Ceremony (good opportunity to gain HMAS CERBERUS support to host the CanTeen 2006 Annual Motorcycle Ride, following on from the Army in 2005).

Phillip Island Lodge continues to be very supportive of the V.M.M.A. activities to the point that the "STONE" Fundraising event on Sunday 22nd May is a joint venture between both parties.

The following members of the V.M.M.A. rode to Phillip Island from Melbourne to attended Matt, Chris, Drew, Erwin, Brian and joined with Bruce, Dave and Mike V.M.M.A members of Phillip Island Lodge.

It did not take long for Matt to introduce himself and the V.M.M.A. to Commander of HMAS CERBERUS Michael Murray and to explain the activities the V.M.M.A. undertakes within the community throughout Victoria.

In particular the V.M.M.A. ongoing commitment to provide an Annual Motorcycle Ride Day to CanTeen with a zero budget, it was casually mentioned in Matt's owe style that the Army had supported the CanTeen 2005 Annual Motorcycle Ride and would HMAS CERBERUS consider supporting the CanTeen 2006 Annual Motorcycle Ride, reply was YES and we were advised of the Navy procedures to gain this support in writing (Well Done).

R to L: W.M. Bro. Bruce Procter & Commander of HMAS CERBERUS Michael Murray.

It was well worth the ride down to Phillip Island to join with like minded brethren who have become good friends to us all.

The ride back to Melbourne was slightly colder than the ride down with many foggy cold sections during the journey.
