Return to Reports 2005

Greetings all.

Well, the dust has finally settled, and as I write this report I have nearly finished compiling the A.G.M. Minutes which will be loaded on to the website soon.

I must say that from my busy Secretary’s seat at the A.G.M. I was very impressed with how relatively quickly we got through the business.

Pedro from the Secretary's seat.

We had 35 members in attendance, and 26 apologies. Maybe some of you forgot to look at the diary! Ah well, it probably matters not, as all the propositions and motions passed smoothly and not unusually a new committee (well, the truth is that we did actually get some new faces elected) has been appointed and I can assure you that they are all very keen and dedicated people.

We started around 1115 and broke for lunch at 1220.

May I take this opportunity to acknowledge some stalwarts within the V.M.M.A. Matt and Jane Turner have once again put their hand in their own pocket and willing provided a fantastic BBQ lunch for those in attendance. They were ably assisted by their daughter and her husband who did the cooking.

Matt & Jane thank you from all Members of the V.M.M.A.

The Turner family never cease to amaze me with their generosity – I publicly thank them most sincerely.

The other person who beavers away very quietly on the fringes is George Allen; our trusted Treasurer. Never a meeting goes by, either committee or A.G.M, when George doesn’t organise the drinks, i.e. hard and soft. I am sure that most of the drinks are paid for out of ‘Uncle’s’ own pocket.

Again this selfless act displays the kindness of such a hard working member – thank you George.

After the gastronomic delights of the Turner family BBQ and ‘scrummy’ salads, we were spoilt with cheesecake.

Matt having his last few words, if you can believe it!! before vacating the Presidents Office.

Most of us rolled with full bellies back into the meeting room to re-commence the A.G.M.

As mentioned above the new committee was then elected and we finished at a very respectable 1320.

Of course there followed many discussions about various topics, thankfully none that I heard were of a political nature.

A very social occasion overall, and I think the last of us departed North Melbourne around 1530.

V.M.M.A. Inc. Patron M.W. Bro. John Wilson P.G.M. just having presented with his "STONE 33" Cap.

I would encourage members to view the website regularly as it contains valuable information regarding our activities.

Those members not online will get the A.G.M. Minutes via snail mail, and Chris tells me that there will be a newsletter coming out before the end of August.

That’s it for now. Be good, be kind, and be careful.
